The University of Oregon this week placed the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity on probation and required members to perform 150 hours of community service in the Bend area after a homeowner complained of damage to a house that members rented for a party near there in November.

Members also are required to write letters of apology, pay restitution for carpet cleaning and damage to a footbridge on the property, and review their policies to ensure they comply with the UO student conduct code, said Chris Loschiavo, UO director...
