Troops deserve paid trips home

Reading the Jan. 19 letter from the non-whiner from Harrisburg made me reflect on my own days in the military. I spent 12 months in Vietnam. Except for the 30 days in Japan recovering from three bullet wounds, I did not whine about missing birthdays, Christmases or any other thing.

But come to think of it, I haven't heard about any whining from our troops fighting overseas now. I am sure they miss their families and their families miss them, which would only stand to reason. Being in a combat zone like these so-called whiners can make you think a lot about home and the possibility of never seeing it again.
