Even though Hattiesburg's Lake Terrace Convention Center opened nearly a decade ago, it's almost impossible to remember a time before the facility resided at the busy intersection of U.S. 49 and Interstate 59.

Since its opening in July 1998, the 68,550-square-foot center set on 32 park-like acres in the hometown of the University of Southern Mississippi has become a catalyst for the Pine Belt area's booming meetings and hospitality industry. More than one million people have attended conventions, consumer shows, performances and special events at the convention center.
