Brenda Johnson remembers sitting in the stands watching her kids play soccer and thinking, `Thank God that's not me. That looks like a lot of work.'

Now, the 40-year-old mother of two is the one who hates to leave the field.

Johnson is one of a healthy number of area residents who get their recreational kicks playing indoor soccer at Kick City in Springfield.

`I was roped into it with a friend,' Johnson said of her introduction to the sport five years ago. `I had never played soccer in my life. It was a whole new experience for me. But it's very addicting....
