...THR and its member organizations have received numerous awards. Four hospitals within THR have been named among Solucient's 100 Top Hospitals in America. The Greater Dallas Community Relations Commission and Dallas Together Forum have honored THR for its commitment to diversity. In 1995 and 1998, the American Hospital Association presented the coveted NOVA Award for outstanding community service to Presbyterian Healthcare System, which was under Mr. Hawthorne's leadership.

In addition to helping lead the formation of THR, Mr. Hawthorne's other notable career achievements include being one of Modern Healthcare magazine's 100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare (from 2003 through 2006) and receiving various honors, including the Texas Hospital Association Trustee Award in 2004; the American College of Healthcare Executives's Gold Medal Award in 2002; the Boone Powell Sr. Award of Excellence for distinguished hospital administration in 1996; and the Earl M. Collier Award for Distinguished Hospital Administration in 1994.

Mr. Hawthorne currently serves as chairman of the board of Premier, Inc., and as chairman of The North Texas BOLD (Business Opportunities for Leadership Diversity) Initiative. A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, he earned his bachelor of science and master in healthcare administration degrees from Trinity University in San Antonio.
