Article Excerpt In a milestone year when at least half of its annual engine production is expected to go into equipment built by other manufacturers, John Deere's Power Systems (JDPS) operations will use the off-highway stage of Germany's Bauma exhibition to announce its latest Tier 3/Stage 3a diesel engines.
The big news from John Deere at Bauma is that its PowerTech E diesels are entering production. The PowerTech E diesels cover a range of outputs from 60 to 200 hp over four displacements--2.4 L, 3.0 L, 4.5 L and 6.8 L. All four models are built at Deere's Torreon, Mexico operations, with the 4.5 L and 6.8 L models also built in Saran, France.

"Our global distribution is now aligned to handle both engines and the Funk drivetrain components, and we have continued to make significant investments in Saran, Torreon and our Waterloo Engine Works. But the investments are not only in engine production. Virtually every aspect of John Deere Power Systems has seen significant investment in recent years, further underscoring our commitment to these markets."
As JDPS started down the emissions regulation trail, the company based its strategy...
