There's an interesting bit of trivia about the nationally ranked DePaul women's basketball team that seems best brought to light today, on the eve of Super Bowl Sunday.

Ironically enough, three of the Blue Demons' best players say they're the players they are today partly because of football.

The older brothers of Ashley Luke, Sarah Kustok and Jenni Dant played football in high school, college and beyond. Word is they played the game with such skill and passion that they inspired a toughness and competitive spirit in their younger sisters that now comes out on the basketball court, where DePaul, by the way, has been on fire.

The 18-1 Blue Demons, off to their best start ever, earned the No. 13 spot in this week's Associated Press poll. It's the highest ranking the program has ever received.
