Shaun Pruitt and Jason Thomas scored only 5 points apiece for West Aurora on Friday night at Glenbard North.

Seton Hall-bound star Justin Cerasoli didn't even make the trip due to a one-game suspension earned last week for being ejected at West Chicago.

And West Aurora beat Glenbard North 68-36 in a DuPage Valley Conference matchup in Carol Stream.

The result is not an aberration, only because the Blackhawks have been playing the same type of frenetic defense all season, regardless of the opponent.

West Aurora forward Travis Marion and guards Haven Hobbs and Sheldon Evans had to take the place of Pruitt, Thomas and Cerasoli for much of the game, Cerasoli because he wasn't there and Pruitt and Thomas because each picked up two quick fouls to start the game.

Marion, who couldn't grip the ball well because of a sprained finger on his left hand, nevertheless helped to orchestrate a dominant second quarter for West Aurora.

The Blackhawks (18-1, 8-0) extended an already promising 15-5 lead after one quarter into a 37-17 halftime advantage, when Marion scored 11 of his game-high 17 points. Guard Johnny Walker hit for two 3-pointers on his way to 12 points, and forward Derrick Pryor came up with another trey.

"Sometimes, I feel like I have to keep everybody playing together when the big three are out," Marion said. "We were just making (Glenbard North) work on defense, because that makes them get tired and takes them out of what they're trying to do on offense."

Panthers guard Jarvis Nichols was the only Glenbard North player who had somewhat of a hot hand in the first half. Nichols scored 9 points, including a 3-pointer, but the frustration of playing defense on West Aurora while trying to score seemed to wear the Panthers down.
