How about a rousing game of knuckle bones? You can learn what that is, and also play 19th-century parlor games, listen to Civil War-era folk music, and even sample some (freshly made) vintage Ozark apple pudding when the Durant House Museum opens its doors for its annual Fireside Sundays programs.

The programs are from 2 to 4:40 p.m. each Sunday, starting this weekend.

The 1843 Durant House Museum, also referred to as the Durant- Peterson home, is a restored and furnished 1843 prairie farmhouse. Costumed docents engage visitors with stories of mid-19th century farm life.

The Durant House is open to the public during Fireside Sundays in February, and every Sunday from June 15 through Aug. 30, as well as for special events throughout the year.

This year's Fireside Sundays begins Sunday with an afternoon of music performed by the Century Air Minstrels, a St. Charles-based string-wind ensemble. Its program will include examples of the reel, jig, schottische, ballad and more.
