Pine Belt leaders have set an ambitious goal they are not content to go after just any manufacturing jobs, they want high-tech, high-paying ones. And efforts continue to leverage the region's technology offerings to attract new industry and help existing ones grow. It's all part of the 1-59/Tech Corridor plan aimed at marketing the area as the next "'Silicon Valley."

In Jones County, the news continues to be dominated by construction of Howard Industries' transformer plant and other developments in Tech Park South. And work continues in the Howard Technology Park where Jones County Junior College is building its advanced technology training center.
