It's not its refined air but its refined products that make Western Refining a major player in the West. The independent oil refiner operates primarily in Arizona, New Mexico, and West Texas. Western Refining's refinery has a crude oil refining capacity of 124,000 barrels per day. More than 90% of its refined products are made up of light transportation fuels, including diesel and gasoline. The refinery has a storage capacity of 4.3 million barrels and a 45,000 barrels-per-day product marketing terminal. Western Refining's refinery also has access to crude oil and refined product pipelines, courtesy of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners and Chevron. In 2006 it agreed to buy Giant Industries for $1.2 billion.

Shares were down 2% as the company may proceed with acquisition.
