Auto suppliers who take part in General Motors' TechWorld event four times a year know it's more than just a technology show and tell.
GM contracts are at stake.
That's why six chosen suppliers this month filled large rooms in the GM Vehicle Engineering Center in Warren, Mich., with the latest technology and scores of development staffers.
About 3,000 GM executives, product engineers, purchasing managers, program teams, manufacturing engineers and r&d managers examined the suppliers' new technology May 8 -9.
Bo Andersson, GM's global purchasing chief, says the automaker had little success with TechWorld until 2002, when GM focused suppliers on safety and fuel economy.
