AutoNation CEO Mike Jackson has never been shy about criticizing the Chrysler group. But last week he gave his support to the sale of the carmaker to private-equity firm Cerberus Capital Management, saying he thinks it will help Chrysler - at least for now.

"Cerberus is impressive in that it's not coming in there with the mind-set of strip-and-flip,'' Jackson told Automotive News. "They are passionate about the potential of this business. They believe in the American industrial might.''
