New MCAR president has deep real estate background: Larry Dudley strong believer, personal investor in downtown Meridian.

MERIDIAN -- As the newly elected president of the Mississippi Commercial Association of Realtors (MCAR), Larry Dudley is glad he decided to remain in Meridian. In his younger days, the Disney World Orlando area was a strong magnet for his ambition and commercial real estate experience and skills (he's visited the world famous resort "25 or 30 times"). But his Meridian roots were too deep.

A self-described "Air Force brat," he married his childhood sweetheart that he met when his family moved to Meridian in 1959. Dudley's father had chosen to retire in Meridian and got a real estate license and started buying property. "The Colonel," with his strong will, was one of those powerful influences on his son. Dudley recalls that two other influential figures were entrepreneur extraordinaire Sammy Davidson and widely respected Realtor Sy Rosenbaum.
