Start ticketing scofflaws

Reading Bob Welch's column (Register-Guard, Nov. 25) makes me wonder why we don't put more cops out there to enforce our laws. "It would cost too much," you say? If we just nail all these scofflaws with a stiff fine, it wouldn't cost taxpayers a dime.

We, the law-abiding taxpayers, would probably even make money. A fine of $100, $150, you name it, would get people's attention. And the dreary wait in the courthouse - an appearance by all those ticketed should be required - would impress even the richer folks who...
