As the play started, I clapped and cheered excitedly with the hundred or so extras in the Mooseheart football stadium stands for the movie "The Express."

As our star running back broke free from a tackle on his way to the end zone, we jumped to our feet and yelled.

The walkie-talkie of a crew member beeped.

"Guys?" she admonished through a bullhorn. "Why were you cheering at the beginning of the play? You're not supposed to know he's going to score."

Hmmm. She had a point there.

Last Thursday at Mooseheart, I joined some show business newbies and seasoned extras on the set of the Universal Studios film. Besides Mooseheart, filming had also taken place at Northwestern University and a few Chicago high schools.
