Where was everyone on Election Day?
To the editor: The population of Rolling Meadows is 24,178. Mayoral election: Nelson, 1,766; D'Astice, 1,209.
Does that mean out of 24,178 people, only 2,975 people voted? That can't be. I'm not all that good on stats. I know when I went to vote, both tables were filled with familiar faces. The same friendly volunteers. From the time I parked my car (the lot wasn't filled), walked up the stairs, signed my name and voted it took all of 14 minutes.
That part was good. One thing I know for sure: 24,178 people didn't vote.
Why?? It's so easy. You read up on the candidates, don't agree with all the Herald endorsements and take your best shot. If the person you voted for didn't make it - that's OK, at least you gave your opinion. In the...
