UO students to answer questions about wetlands

Six University of Oregon students in the Environmental Leadership Program who have spent the spring volunteering with the wetland education program will help families answer questions, including why wetlands are important, how pollination works and why some plants are considered weeds.

There will be activities and games for children of all ages and their parents. The first program will begin at 9 a.m. and the last one will start at 3 p.m. All will be held at the West Eugene Wetlands Project Office on the northeast corner of West 11th and Danebo avenues. Participants will meet in the yurt.

Safe Routes to School workshops offered

The Oregon Safe Routes To School program is offering free weekday training workshops today through May 11 to schools, local agencies, parents and anyone interested in the program, the required action plan and the funding program for engineering projects and education, encouragement and enforcement programs.
