A group of neighborhood leaders has drafted a set of recommendations to address what it sees as shortcomings in the ways the Eugene Water & Electric Board deals with some of its customers.

Sparked by recent tussles over a fallen electrical tower, the Neighborhood Leaders Council calls on EWEB to form an advisory group on customer issues, appoint an ombudsman and be more open with information on equipment failures, among other ideas. The group will seek endorsements from the City Council and other organizations before presenting the list to EWEB commissioners this summer.

The council, composed of representatives from each of the city's 22 neighborhood and community associations, approved the list of eight recommendations last week by an 11-1 vote.
