The Atlanta airport is one of the world's busiest, and AirTran Holdings is partly responsible. Through its main subsidiary, AirTran Airways, the company offers low-fare passenger transportation, primarily from its Atlanta hub. AirTran Airways flies to more than 50 cities, mainly in the eastern US. The airline operates a fleet of about 130 Boeing aircraft, including the 717-200 and the 737-700. It is a leading carrier in the Atlanta market, behind Delta, which handles the largest share of the traffic at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. In an effort to expand, AirTran Holdings is trying to buy a smaller rival, Midwest Air Group.

Shares were down 3% on downgrade.
