Wall Street rebounded Tuesday, ending mixed as investors were able to overlook substandard housing and consumer confidence data and focused on a continued flurry of stronger-than-expected quarterly earnings. The Dow Jones industrials managed another new trading high, once again inching towards the coveted 13,000 mark. As we have mentioned in previous articles, robust first-quarter earnings reports have been driving the market higher recently. This in turn has renewed hopes that global takeover activity might be able to generate additional profit for U.S. companies in the future, thus combating the slowing economy. Contributing to the day's overall success were investors of Aberdeen Asia-Pacific Income Fund Inc. (AMEX:FAX), who experienced a 0.15% up-tick accompanied by a trading volume of approximately 749,600.
