San Antonio, Texas -- The history of chaplains serving in combat led to the theme of "Battle Hardening and Recovery of the Unit Ministry Team" (UMT) at the Chaplain's Annual Sustainment Training (CAST) held in May 2006 in San Antonio, Texas.

The concept of chaplains serving on the battlefield is as old as war. In Biblical times the Tribe of Levi, the priests, were warriors charged with protecting the Ark of the Covenant.
