This book is the latest in a series of studies of the human resource management function in organizations. The studies have been funded by the Human Resource Planning Society and by the corporate sponsors of the Center for Effective Organizations at the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. Achieving Strategic Excellence reports the most recent study results from the year 2004 and compares these results with findings for 1995, 1998, and 2001. In reading this book, one can see and assess changes in the HR function over the last decade, which is exceptionally valuable.
