PHOENIX, April 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- White Electronic Designs Corporation announced today that it has received a purchase order from a primary U.S. defense contractor, valued at approximately $900,000. The contract is for the delivery of prototypes of a complete circuit card assembly for use in a global positioning system (GPS) communications receiver. The Company expects to deliver these prototypes starting in February 2008 with the potential for follow-on production orders in early 2008. The sizes of potential production contracts are estimated to be in excess of $10 million over the next four years.

There are upwards of 100,000 military communications receivers currently in the field that could be retrofitted with GPS receiver modules. White Electronic Designs will integrate GPS technology and anti-tamper (AT) process technology into the circuit card assemblies for the next generation of receivers to more effectively protect against "friendly-fire" incidents.
