Carroll College
HELENA, Mont. - Carroll College hired Wurts & Associates as the $26.4 million endowment's first investment consultant, confirmed Lori Peterson, college controller. Officials of the fund decided to add a consultant in hopes of improving investment returns. They conducted the search internally. Ms. Peterson was not able to provide further information at press time.
Dressbarn
SUFFERN, N.Y. - Dressbarn Inc. hired CitiStreet as third-party administrator of the company's $90 million 401(k) plan, confirmed Mike Bezdek, spokesman for CitiStreet. He declined to identify the firm CitiStreet replaced. No further information was available.
Isabella Spiegel, Dressbarn's assistant vice president of employee benefits, did not return calls.
Fort Lauderdale Employees
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Fort Lauderdale General Employees' Retirement System hired RMK Timberland Group to manage a $5 million timber portfolio, confirmed David Desmond, plan administrator. It is the $330 million fund's first investment in timber, said Mr. Desmond. Funding came from trimming the system's fixed-income allocation but no managers were terminated.
Consultant Dahab Associates assisted.
Indiana PERF
INDIANAPOLIS - The $16.3 billion Indiana Public Employees' Retirement Fund committed a total of $108.5 million to four private equity funds. It committed $50 million to Lehman Brothers Fund XVIII, which invests in other funds that provide venture capital for startup companies as well as established firms; $30 million to OCM Opportunities Fund VII, which focuses on acquiring businesses to improve performance; $20 million to Technology Partners Fund VIII, which provides venture capital to life sciences companies and clean-tech companies; and $8.5 million to Horsley Bridge Growth VIII, which invests in mature businesses with strong growth potential.
