Ice sculpture is a venerable art in the colder regions of northern China--but then, the raw material is readily available there for many months of the year. Natural ice is seldom seen in Vietnam, so its hardly surprising that the idea really only captured the popular imagination no more than three years ago, when an exhibition of the highly sophisticated Chinese art was held in Hanoi.
