SPRINGFIELD - City officials have parted ways with an Atlanta-based firm that they hired to oversee construction of a voter-approved public safety complex, temporarily delaying the much-anticipated project.

The city decided to end contract negotiations with Heery International after company officials said they could not complete the job unless the city increased the project budget by about $2.8 million.
