In Seal's version of Darwinism, Man Man would live longer than an Okinawan.

Remember when the scar-faced pop star sang "We're never gonna survive unless/ We get a little crazy"?

POP NOTES

For a heavy helping of experimental - dare we say it, at risk of offending the mental health advocates - crazy rock, go to the WOW Hall on Monday for a show featuring Man Man. Opening will be Caves and locals the Tiffany Lamps.

Maybe it's the combo of Caves and Man Man that's got us thinking about evolution. But it may be, too, that the indie press thinks Man Man represents a musical evolution in the right direction.

In a mixed review of "Six Demon Bag," the All Music Guide said some of the Man Man sound "almost borders on accessible." But the critic admits Man Man's "circus-of-insanity live show" created quite a buzz two years ago at South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.

Meanwhile, the reviewer for Tiny Mix Tapes defends the band, while expressing annoyance with its whole rowdy, crazy image.
