Russell Woolcott

COTTAGE GROVE - The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove for Russell Woolcott of Cottage Grove, who died March 26 of heart failure at age 83. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

He was born March 27, 1923, in Cottage Grove to Arthur and Marion Wright Woolcott. He married Charlotte "June" Carnes on June 9, 1951, in Cottage Grove.

Woolcott graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1940. He served as a B-24 pilot in the Army Air Corps in World War II, flying out of Italy and North Africa. For 20 years, he was co-owner of Randall and Woolcott Building Supplies, worked in construction and remodeling and was a tree farmer.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Chuck of Brush Prairie, Wash.; two daughters, Gail Ball of Vancouver, Wash., and Sally Schroeder of Corvallis; a brother, Robert of Cottage Grove; and seven grandchildren.

Remembrances to the Cottage Grove American Legion Post, Boys' State or Girls' State programs or scouting organizations.
