As far as Bethany Morris is concerned, abuse of, or apathy toward, the environment would be an abandonment of God's commandment.

The Wheaton woman cites biblical scripture, where God says man will have dominion over the earth.

"The way I view the Bible is that the earth is God's creation," she said. "It is a gift to humankind to be used as any gift from God."
