New owner closing Medegen Colo. site

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y.-Medical Action Industries Inc., which last year purchased Medegen Medical Products, will begin shutting down Medegen's Colorado plant in August.

Medical Action and the Medegen business make disposable plastic surgical and medical products.

In a Feb. 15 announcement, Medical Action said it will consolidate injection molding operations in Northglenn, Colo., into another Medegen plant, in Gallaway, Tenn. Some products will be outsourced.

Medegen owns the 265,000-square-foot Tennessee plant. The Colorado building was leased.

Medegen employed about 70 full-time and 90 temporary workers at the Northglenn plant. Medical Action President and Chief Executive Officer Paul Meringolo said many of the Medegen workers there...
