TUPELO -- John Oxford was rattled on 9/11.

That fateful morning, he was working in the Health and Human Services (HHS) building in Washington, D.C., located near the Pentagon, when he saw the smoke cloud rise from the plane crash site. While buildings were being evacuated, he was asked to stay behind with a few others as "essential employees" to keep HHS operating, all the while not knowing if another attack was imminent.
