Flowers and the businesses that peddle them are supposed to be in full bloom this time of year. But due to the recent cold wave, some of the county's flower crops may miss the big Valentine's Day spending spree.

Julie Walker, co-owner of Valley Center's Obra Verde Growers, said although last month's low temperatures did not damage the county's $76 million-a-year cut flower and foliage business nearly as much as it did the avocado market, it's still not business as usual for growers.
