The Major Orchestra Librarians' Association (MOLA) will hold its twenty-fifth anniversary annual conference in Chicago, 13-16 April 2007, at Hyatt Regency hotel. This is the first time MOLA has met in Chicago. The conference is hosted by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, along with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Grant Park Symphony, and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, who look forward to welcoming participants to our great city.

One of the focuses of this conference will be a look at some of the individuals that have brought MOLA to where it is today--an unbelievable twenty-five years since the first conference in Philadelphia! But while we look back on MOLA's illustrious past, we also will give greater attention to our future as orchestra librarians.

Building on topics brought up at previous conferences, we will continue our examination of new music editions and their place in our libraries. Along with representatives of the major music publishers, we are planning to have a number of the major editors of some of the recent critical editions to speak to us in a panel discussion. Also planned is a discussion of copyright law in the digital age, and how it affects us in the world of satellite radio, streaming, and downloading.

On the technology side, we are planning a breakout session to introduce the MOLA membership to Orchestra Management Solutions (OMS), the scheduling and database software currently in use by the Chicago Symphony, the Minnesota Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, and others.
