Clara Marrs

SPRINGFIELD - The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 2, at the Springfield Seventh-day Adventist Church for Clara Violet Marrs of Springfield, who died Feb. 24 of age-related causes at age 77. Following the service, a reception will be at the church. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the church.

She was born Aug. 17, 1929, to Charles and Reba McGillvery Chambers. She married Marvin Marrs on Sept. 4, 1945.

She was a homemaker and worked as a cook at Skipworth and McKenzie Manor Nursing Home.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Tommy of Springfield and Karl of Eugene; two daughters, Clara Braden of Arizona and Rose Beal of Texas; a brother, Russell McGillvery of Oregon City; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A son, Marvin, died in 2001.

Leon Morss Jr.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at Trinity Baptist Church in Springfield for Leon S. "Lynn" Morss Jr. of Eugene, who died Feb. 25 of cancer. He was 75.

He was born July 16, 1931, in Eugene to Leon and Katherine Gildersleeve Morss. He married Agatha Phillips on June 26, 1976, in Springfield.

Morss Jr. served in the Air Force, retiring after 21 years as an airline maintenance supervisor. He worked for Weyerhaeuser and retired after 21 years. He also worked for Royal Caribbean.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Alesha and Angie; two sons, Rallone and Michael; a stepdaughter, Brenda Harris of Gray, Tenn.; a stepson, Larry Browning of Leaburg; two brothers, Richard of Cottage Grove and William of Springfield; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements by Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield. Remembrances to the Valley Hill Community Church van fund.
