LOWELL - It is known as the Dungeon, or Devils' Dungeon to those who walk away defeated.

On one sideline, a mere two feet separate the court from the 10 rows of stands. The other sideline is two feet from a stage where the bench players sit on the edge, in front of the scorer's cardboard table and an announcer who stands most of the game. The same distance encompasses each baseline and the adjacent wall, lined with a thin layer of padding to protect a player who takes a layup too fast.

Shouts from the crowd echo off the walls and ceiling, seemingly only an arm's reach away at all times.
