It must have been an indication of what the Pac-10 thought of Oregon before the season, because the Ducks have had the league's three highest-rated officials work more of their games than anybody else.

OREGON MEN

One of the goals of Bill McCabe in his first season as supervisor of Pac-10 basketball officials was to work his strongest officials in more games, and have them work together more often in what he considered especially important games.

`That is a good thing,' UO coach Ernie Kent said of the McCabe philosophy. `I'll also say what I've always said: There is a lot of pressure on officials in this conference. When I have one of the better teams, I always think the officiating is better.
