The extent of Mike Bellotti's desire to hire a special teams coordinator was revealed Tuesday when longtime friend and associate Neal Zoumboukos was reassigned within the UO athletic department and former assistant Tom Osborne was welcomed back.

Zoumboukos, a 27-year veteran of the Oregon coaching staff, became a special assistant to incoming athletic director Pat Kilkenny, though he will continue to work with the football team in a limited capacity. The move made room for Osborne to return to the program as tight ends coach and special teams coordinator - the latter a title Zoumboukos, nor any other member of the returning staff, was willing to assume.

Osborne joined Bellotti's first staff in 1995 as tight ends coach and, Bellotti said, the program's first special teams coordinator. The Ducks annually boasted some of the Pac-10's best special teams units during...
