OAKRIDGE - The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at the Oakridge Funeral Home for Virginia L. Baker of Oakridge, who died Feb. 23 of injuries sustained in a house fire. She was 85.
She was born Oct. 16, 1921, on a Cherokee Indian reservation in Catoosa, Okla., to George and Martha Alice High Minnick.
She married Kenneth Leonard Baker on Nov. 16, 1940, in Washington. He died in November 1982.
She worked in horticulture at a nursery for 30 years, as a fire watcher for logging companies and as a campground hostess.
Survivors include two daughters, Anita Scott of Oakridge and Elaine Kendall of Dundee; a sister, Hazel Moore of Bakersfield, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. A granddaughter, Brenda Green, died previously.
Visitation will be from noon to 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the...
