The Pac-10 brought back its league tournament partly because it felt the final week of its regular season wasn't getting enough attention nationally, as other leagues played off in tournaments as a prelude to March Madness.

This year would have been the exception. There is, first of all, UCLA's game at Washington State on Thursday night. It truly would have been a battle for first had Oregon not beaten the Cougars to knock them two games behind, but there's still hope of a co-title for WSU, if they sweep the Bruins and USC and UCLA also loses on Saturday at Washington.

`I think there's going to be a lot of electricity in the building on Thursday,' WSU coach Tony Bennett predicted.

From the other view, the Bruins want to wrap up the title, and where better than on the floor of the runner-up?

`We don't play to win co-championships,' UCLA's Josh Shipp said. `We play to win it outright.'

If those stakes aren't enough for the final weekend, how about Arizona's streak of 22 consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament being in doubt?
