The company is developing new formulations of existing antibiotics that are no longer patent protected, using its PULSYS once-a-day pulsatile delivery technology. Among the antibiotics that the company is researching are amoxicillin, cephalexin, and clarithromycin. Advancis is looking to collaborate with other drugmakers to use its PULSYS technology; the company already has made a deal with Eli Lilly to develop a PULSYS version of its Keflex brand of cephalexin, and in the meantime it handles the sales and marketing of Keflex in the US. HealthCare Ventures owns 37% of Advancis.
