Global Sources views its operations as being of great import (and export, too). The company provides an online business-to-business marketplace for import/export traders. Its Web site allows some 420,000 buyers to search through products of 130,000 suppliers from some 200 countries, with a strong focus on the Chinese market. Global Sources also sponsors exhibitions and provides such e-commerce services as private online catalogs and supply chain management. The company concentrates primarily on such industries as fashion accessories, hardware, electronics, and gifts. CEO Merle Hinrichs owns more than 60% of the company, which is registered in Bermuda, but bases its operations in Singapore.
