Solectron's selection of electronics manufacturing services is one of the most selected anywhere. The company is one of the world's largest providers of contract electronics manufacturing services (along with archrivals Flextronics, Hon Hai, and Sanmina-SCI). High-tech giants including Cisco Systems (about 18% of sales), Nortel, Hewlett-Packard, Ericsson, and IBM outsource production to Solectron to cut their own costs. Solectron builds electronic systems and subsystems for computers, consumer electronics, motor vehicles, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and telecommunications and networking gear. Its services include product design, prototyping, repair, and distribution.
