This book is primarily about M. P. Bridgland and his photo surveying and mapping of the Canadian Rockies, especially Jasper Park, in the early 1900s. The author is a professor of History and English, but one who is familiar with the Rockies and merits recognition as an honorary geographer. He argues that 'Bridgland deserves to have his story told widely in word and image'. Morrison Parsons Bridgland was born near Toronto in 1878 and trained as a Dominion Lands Surveyor.
