COTTAGE GROVE - Echoes of the evening's victory still lingered in the air when Bill Thompson had a brief moment to reflect last Wednesday.

After guiding the Lions to an 80-0 Sky-Em League dual-meet victory over Sisters, the Cottage Grove wrestling coach recalled a similar outcome 30 years ago in his first match with the program.

Back then, it was the Lions who absorbed the brutal beating.

"I've been there," said Thompson, describing the 78-0 loss in 1977. "You have to build off that."
