An unincorporated neighborhood's recent quest to install fire hydrants became more poignant Tuesday as some soon-to-be neighbors saw their dream mansion burn beyond repair.

The early morning fire tore through an uninhabited, two-story house at 24W080 Derby Court, near Palomino Drive and 75th Street near Naperville.

Homeowners Tom Alore, a Naperville attorney, and his wife, Phylis, were said to be planning to move into the house next week. The structure had just undergone a nearly two-year renovation, neighbors said.

The structure, valued at more than $1.5 million, is expected to be a total loss, Lisle-Woodridge Fire District Bureau Chief Jim French said....
