The urban growth boundary that surrounds Eugene and Springfield would be split into a Springfield portion and a Eugene portion, to give each city increased planning autonomy, under a bill to be sponsored by Rep. Terry Beyer, D-Springfield.

Beyer has agreed to introduce legislation drafted by an attorney for the state Home Builders Association that would split the growth boundary and require the cities to keep a closer eye on their residential land supplies.
