President Washington was to stop off in Philadelphia for a night and a day to consult with Congress before going on to New York, and he was to be the guest of Governor and Mrs. Hancock.
They planned to give a big dinner in the president's honor and Mrs. Hancock allowed her niece to invite some little friends to come and look...
