Many people run simply to stay fit. For Tony Greer, running was the answer to a prayer.
"I grew up in the small rural Mississippi town of Hermanville, the middle child of three boys," explained Greer. "My father worked at Grand Gulf Nuclear power station pouring concrete and my mother worked at home. Our household income was modest and we thought everyone ate deer, rabbit, squirrel and fish and tended to their own garden."
Greer and his brothers attended Chamberlain Hunt Academy; a private military school in Port Gibson. "It was also a boarding school, but we weren't discipline problems, we were local day students," he quickly explained.
