This is a beautiful book, a 'pictorial celebration' of the work of Francis Edgar Williams, who spent twenty years as Government Anthropologist in the Australian Territory of Papua. Its substantial introduction traces Williams' life and work, and is followed by 235 of his photographs, a 'representative selection of Williams' photographs in their historical and ethnographic contexts' (p.60).
